Many Mckenzie Friend companies or services will tell you that you do not need a lawyer. This is sometimes true however the input of a solicitor or barrister can be invaluble for those who can afford it. However, with legal aid no longer being as easily accessible, not everyone is able to afford solicitor or barrister fees, nor do all cases need one. A quick google search will tell you that solicitor fees can range from £150 per hour plus VAT for a Trainee solicitor and £300 per hour for a Senior solicitor. 

Hiring a professional Mckenzie Friend is often a much more affordable way forward to be supported within family court proceedings and JCR Mckenzie Friend Services aims to be competitive in pricing amongst other Mckenzie Friend Companies or Services, to enable a wider clientele of Litigants in Person to have a fighting chance of being able to access the Family Court when needed and supported to present their case in the best way. 

Many Mckenzie Friend companies and services charge between £75-95 per hour however JCR Mckenzie Friend Services aims to be inclusive of  people with lower incomes, to enable them to access professional services to support them with making applications to the family court and providing support at hearings and throughout the proceedings. 

JCR Mckenzie Friend Services provides a FREE 30 minute consultation by phone. 

Costings are then charged in units of £50 an hour. If, for example a detailed telephone consultation and application takes 2.5 hours this will be charged  2.5 units totalling £125.

Please note that any invoices outlining the total cost of JCR Mckenzie Friend Services does not include the court application fee which at present for a Child Arrangement Order is £255. 

Total costs are likely to vary depending on the complexity of individual cases and duration of proceedings. A discussion will need to take place prior to work commencing to give each client a better understanding of likely costs. 

Please also note that payments to JCR Mckenzie Friend Services need to made in advance of work commencing and payment plans can be arranged, however these will work in advance and not in arrears.
